Military Service Notes

  • Description of military service in a newly raised ranger company (1839), Texas Auxiliary, Mexican Invasions of 1842, Mexican War, and Texas Rangers. Served in Confederate States Army under Col. Henry McCullough, commander of the Texas Mounted Riflemen. Handbook of Texas Online.
  • Served six months in Capt. Matthew Caldwell's company of rangers in 1837; 1st Lieutenant of Capt. French Smith's company at San Antonio, spring 1842; battle on the Salado in fall 1842; three months in Capt. Ben McCulloch's "spie" company, under Gen. Taylor in 1845-1847; on the frontier with Capt. H.E. McCulloch in 1850; six months with Capt. H.E. McCulloch as 1st Lieutenant and as quarter master and commissary of the latter company in 1853. Confederate States Army, commissary in Col. H.E. McCulloch's regiment 1st Texas Mounted Rifles. Personnel of the Texas State Government for 1885, 19th Legislature, 1885.
