SB 43, 63rd R.S.
An Act to authorize and require certain cities to recognize the association chosen by a majority of the fire fighters employed by any such city as their representative for the purpose of mutual consultations on the subjects of wages, hours and other conditions of employment of such fire fighters; to authorize and require any such city to engage in mutual consultation with such representative on the subjects of wages, hours and other conditions of employment; to provide procedures for the commencement and standards for the conduct of consultations; to authorize and require such city and such representative of fire fighters to reduce to signed, written contract any agreement which may be reached on such subjects; to provide for and require arbitration as the appropriate procedure to resolve any impasse which may be reached during mutual consultation; to provide procedures for commencement and standards for the conduct of arbitration; to require compliance with contracts and awards in arbitrations under the Act; to prohibit strikes of such fire fighters; to provide for judicial enforcement of the Act; to make related provisions designed to effectuate the purposes of the Act; to provide for a declaration of policy, liberal construction, definitions of certain terms, severability, precedence over contrary clauses.
