Many of the resources used to research legislative intent are available at other libraries throughout Texas. The Houston and Dallas Public Libraries, as well as the Legislative Reference Library in Austin, own microfilm copies of the bill files from the 63rd (1973) through 70th (1987) Legislative sessions. Other public and academic institutions will own the General and Special Laws of Texas (the "session laws") and the House and Senate Journals as part of their Texas Documents depository program.
We have compiled a partial list of libraries and the resources they have available for legislative intent research; however, for the most current information, please contact the library directly to determine if they have the material you are looking for. A complete list of libraries that participate the the Texas State Publications Depository program may also help you identify other libraries in your area that offer these materials.
