Introduced

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

Current law requires the board of trustees of a school district to adopt a
student code of conduct for the district. Students violating this code may
be suspended or removed from a classroom, campus, or alternative education
program if the action occurred on or off school property or while attending
a school-sponsored or school-related activity. H.B. 1034 limits the
applicability of a district's code to a student's behavior on school
property or while attending a school-sponsored or school-related activity
on or off school property.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the opinion of the Office of House Bill Analysis that this bill does
not expressly delegate any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, department, agency, or institution.
