BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

Podiatrists in this state are licensed by the Texas State Board of
Podiatric Medical Examiners (board). Prior to the 76th Legislature, the
law did not authorize the board to provide a copy of a written complaint
filed against a podiatrist to that podiatrist. H.B. 1420 authorizes the
board to provide a copy of each written complaint to the license holder,
unless providing a copy would jeopardize an investigation.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the opinion of the Office of House Bill Analysis that this bill does
not expressly delegate any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, department, agency, or institution.

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

Texas State Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners (board), if a complaint is
filed with the board, to provide a copy of the complaint to the license
holder, unless providing a copy would jeopardize an investigation.

SECTION 2.Emergency clause.
  Effective date: upon passage.
