Introduced

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

Under current law, a person is prohibited from practicing engineering
without a license. However, it is common within the music and film
industries for a sound recording professional to use the title of
"professional engineer." H.B. 2880 amends the Texas Engineering Practice
Act to allow a sound recording professional to use the title "professional
engineer" without being licensed under that Act and to provide that such a
person using this title is not considered to be engaging in the practice of
engineering.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the opinion of the Office of House Bill Analysis that this bill does
not expressly delegate any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, department, agency, or institution.
