HBA-SEP H.B. 1015 77(R) BILL ANALYSIS Office of House Bill AnalysisH.B. 1015 By: Gallego Judicial Affairs 2/21/2001 Introduced BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Many district attorneys hold public office while maintaining private practices due to financial necessity. This can sometimes result in a district attorney being unable to focus all attention on official prosecutorial duties. House Bill 1015 supplements the 83rd judicial district attorneys' salaries when they forfeit their private practice to concentrate solely on prosecutorial duties by providing that the professional prosecutors law is applicable to state prosecutors for the 83rd Judicial District. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY It is the opinion of the Office of House Bill Analysis that this bill does not expressly delegate any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution. ANALYSIS House Bill 1015 amends the Government Code to provide that professional prosecutors law is applicable to state prosecutors for the 83rd Judicial District. EFFECTIVE DATE September 1, 2001.
