BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE 

House Bill 1666 was passed in the 76th Legislature, allowing the Nixon
Hospital District to contract with the Gonzales County Hospital District.
The Nixon Hospital District now wishes to also contract with the DeWitt
Medical District.  House Bill 3687 authorizes the Nixon Hospital District
to contract with the DeWitt Medical District to lease, manage, or operate a
health care facility in the Nixon Hospital District. 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the opinion of the Office of House Bill Analysis that this bill does
not expressly delegate any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, department, agency, or institution. 

ANALYSIS

House Bill 3687 authorizes the Nixon Hospital District of Gonzales and
Wilson counties to contract with the DeWitt Medical District for the DeWitt
Medical District to lease, manage, or operate a health care facility
located in the Nixon Hospital District. 

The bill authorizes the DeWitt Medical District through its board of
directors to contract with the Nixon Hospital District of Gonzales and
Wilson counties for the DeWitt Medical District to lease, manage, or
operate a health care facility located in the Nixon Hospital District. 

EFFECTIVE DATE

On passage, or if the Act does not receive the necessary vote, the Act
takes effect September 1, 2001.
