HBA-BSM H.B. 65 77(R) BILL ANALYSIS Office of House Bill AnalysisH.B. 65 By: Pitts Judicial Affairs 5/7/25/2001 Enrolled BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Prior to the 77th Legislature, a judge of the 378th Judicial District was prohibited from serving as a visiting judge in Bexar, Dallas, Ector, Fort Bend, Harris, Jefferson, Lubbock, Midland, Tarrant, or Travis County. House Bill 65 removes the provision that prohibits a judge of the 378th Judicial District from serving as a visiting judge in these counties. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY It is the opinion of the Office of House Bill Analysis that this bill does not expressly delegate any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution. ANALYSIS House Bill 65 amends the Government Code to remove the provision that prohibits a judge of the 378th Judicial District from serving as a visiting judge in Bexar, Dallas, Ector, Fort Bend, Harris, Jefferson, Lubbock, Midland, Tarrant, or Travis County. EFFECTIVE DATE September 1, 2001.
