HBA-BSM H.B. 78 77(R) BILL ANALYSIS Office of House Bill AnalysisH.B. 78 By: Gallego Judicial Affairs 2/7/2001 Introduced BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Current law prohibits a district judge of the 394th Judicial District from serving as a visiting judge in certain urban counties. House Bill 78 repeals this provision. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY It is the opinion of the Office of House Bill Analysis that this bill does not expressly delegate any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution. ANALYSIS House Bill 78 repeals the provision in the Government Code which prohibits the judge of the 394th Judicial District from serving as a visiting judge in Bexar, Dallas, Ector, Fort Bend, Harris, Jefferson, Lubbock, Midland, Tarrant, or Travis County. EFFECTIVE DATE September 1, 2001.
