BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

Current law authorizes the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners to issue
only one license to the owner of a chiropractic facility regardless of the
number of facilities that person owns. The board may collect a fee for
only one license even if a person owns several facilities. Senate Bill 145
provides for the issuance of one license for each chiropractic facility
owned.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the opinion of the Office of House Bill Analysis that this bill does
not expressly delegate any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, department, agency, or institution.

ANALYSIS

Senate Bill 145 amends the Occupations Code to provide that rules adopted
by the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners must provide for the issuance
of one facility license to an owner of a chiropractic facility for each
chiropractic facility owned by the person.

EFFECTIVE DATE

September 1, 2001.
