BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

Currently, the operating code for the Texas Academy of Mathematics and
Science contains outdated information relating to varying lengths of the
terms of service served by the original members of the advisory board, who
have since fulfilled their terms. The current board members all serve
six-year terms. Senate Bill 74 removes this obsolete language from the
operating code of the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the opinion of the Office of House Bill Analysis that this bill does
not expressly delegate any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, department, agency, or institution.

ANALYSIS

Senate Bill 74 amends the Education Code to remove provisions for the terms
of the original members of the advisory board of the Texas Academy of
Mathematics and Science.
