Prior History

The Texas Code of Criminal Procedure was first codified in 1856. Four formal revisions followed in 1879, 1895, 1911, and 1925. These revisions, along with Model Codes, Federal Procedure, and Codes of other states, served as the basis for study for the 1965 revision of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
