Charges
• Monitor the efforts of the Sunset Commission in its review of agencies designated for termination in light of the Sunset Commission being a separate agency apart from the Legislative Budget Board.
• Monitor the results of the Sunset Commission review of state agencies implementation of Sunset legislation and evaluate actual compliance with the Sunset across-the-board approaches enacted by the 66th and 67th legislatures. In addition, review the Sunset across-the-board recommendations to determine whether they could be incorporated into a general statute.
• Coordinate the efforts of other House substantive standing committees having jurisdiction over those agencies under Sunset review. The result of this effort would be to develop an agenda for dealing jointly with legislation and budgetary matters of concern to both the standing committee and Government Organization Committee during the 68th Legislature.
• Determine the effect of the changes in the Sunset Act as incorporated in HB 542, 67th Legislature, Regular Session, to determine if citizen input on the Commission produces desired results.
