House members appointed 2/6/1863 pursuant to resolution by Randolph. Randolph asked the House to excuse him from the chairmanship of the Committee on the Penitentiary 2/13/1863; Flint and Simpson excused from "committee to visit the State Penitentiary" and Hardin and Reid added 3/3/1863 (House Journal, 9th 1st C.S., pp. 42, 75, 171).

Senate members appointed 2/12/1863; "committee to visit the Penitentiary" (Senate Journal, 9th 1st C.S., pp. 47, 56).
