- Conduct a comprehensive study of criminal law and punishment in Texas, including the definition of crimes, penalties, sentencing and probation and parole. The Committee may consider the Model Penal Code, prepared by the American Law Institute; the Model Sentencing Act, prepared by the National Council on Crime and Delinquency; provisions of federal law in the area of sentencing; and the laws of our sister states which have recently made comprehensive revisions of their criminal law.
