  • Biographical sketch, J.P. Webb, p. 58. Born 8/16/1832 in Oglethorp County, Georgia. "In 1850 he came to Texas and lived in Smith county three years, Hill twenty-one years, Parker two years and in Breckenridge, Stephens county, his present home, during the past eight years . . . For six years—to Dec. 1884—he was Sheriff and Tax collector of Stephens county and resigned that position upon being elected to the Nineteenth Legislature from the 42nd district—Palo Pinto, Eastland and Stephens counties."
