  • Obituary and photo, "Final Rites Held Monday for Joe (Coon Creek) Gandy," 6/17/1965, pp. 1, 6. "When Mr. Gandy ran for the legislature, he wanted the name 'Coon Creek' on the ballot. After being told that nicknames were not allowed on the ballot, he went before the late District Court Judge Charles D. Berry and had Coon Creek made part of his legal name." Winnsboro News.
