- United States Army, World War II. "Following Pearl Harbor, he postponed his education to enlist in WW II, where he became a 7th Division infantry platoon leader. During the battle of Leyte Gulf he was wounded in action on November 15, 1944. For his service, he received the Silver Star, Purple Heart and Bronze Star." Texas State Cemetery.
