"Mr. Roberts was a veteran of the Civil war, and the only man in Texas to have a child named by an act of the Legislature. While serving a term in the Legislature he received news of the birth of his twenty-first child, a son. The Legislature, then in session, claimed the honor of naming the child, and the name chosen was that of the then speaker of the House, Hon. Pat Neff, and conferred by legislative enactment. Deceased was a former a county judge of Hardeman county, then of Foard county, and served several legislative terms from the latter county."
