  • Description of Confederate States Army service. " . . . the Civil war called him into the Confederate service as volunteer, under command of Captain Murray of Bonham. Later, he was assigned to Carr's company, Giddings Battallion, for service on the Texas-Mexican border. His record shows him at Brownsville under Lieutenant Means, guarding cotton wagons from the interior, seeking a market to Mexico, and in various other positions of trust."
