Biographical Sketches

• J.L. Carpenter relocated to Mangum, Oklahoma, in 1902; married Miss Charlie Meacham in June 1903; served in the 4th legislature (1913) of the Oklahoma State Senate, as Greer County (Oklahoma) judge, then Oklahoma school land department lawyer; and died 3/8/1943 at his home in Oklahoma City.
  "J.L. Carpenter, Esq., of Bonham, Texas, arrived in Mangum on Tuesday's evening's train, and will locate here for the practice of his profession . . . Mr. Carpenter has twice represented his county, Fannin, in the state legislature, and has succeeded as an attorney among strong legal lights of the Lone Star State."
