Hidalgo County Sheriff (1873-1876), Hidalgo County Attorney (1880), member of Texas House of Representatives (1883). Portrait. Obituary, "Death of Hon. A.J. Leo," Laredo Times, 12/2/1883: "News has been received of the death of Hon. A.J. Leo, of Hidalgo, which occurred at his home in Edinburgh on the morning of the twenty-fourth instant . . . Mr. Leo was of Jewish descent, and was about thirty-two years of age. He was a native of the Rio Grande frontier, having been born in Brownsville. His home has been in Cameron and Hidalgo Counties all of his life . . . He acted as [Hidalgo County] sheriff many years . . .
