SB 65, 54th R.S.
Relating to revising certain portions of the Workmen's Compensation Insurance Laws of this State; providing that beneficiaries under the law may, in cases appealed to the courts, contract for attorneys fees of such amount only as may be allowed by the Court in which the matter may be heard, the fee allowed by the Court not to exceed twenty-five per cent (25%) of the amount recovered, or $2,000.00 whichever is less; increasing the maximum weekly compensation payable to injured employees in certain cases; providing a method for calculating weekly compensation in all cases of partial incapacity, whether resulting from general injuries or the specific injuries scheduled under the law; providing that in cases of multiple injuries weekly compensation shall not exceed the maximum cases involving pre-existing disability or infirmity; requiring that compromise settlement agreements include a statement of the extent and duration of the incapacity upon which such settlements are based; excluding from coverage injuries occurring in the course of travel under certain conditions; providing for self-insurance, qualifications of self-insurers, and certain fees and expenses in connection therewith; prescribing certain powers and duties of the Board of Insurance Commissioners relative to self-insurers; preserving prior law with respect to claims originating prior to the effective date hereof; providing a savings clause; repealing all laws or parts of laws in conflict.
