SCR 16, 64th R.S.
Petitioning the Congress and the President of the United States to take all measures necessary to insure that the United States Department of Defense not change the status of MIA's from that of "missing in action" to "killed in action" until all information as to the circumstances and particulars supporting such action has been made available to the next of kin and they are afforded the opportunity to rebut such information; requesting that Senator John Tower, Senator Lloyd H. Bentsen, and the full congressional delegation from Texas use the power of their offices to insure that the department of defense and the service branches adhere to proper procedures when reviewing the status of MIA's; providing that copies of this resolution be prepared and sent to the President of the United States, to the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the United States of Congress, to all members of the Texas delegation to the United States Congress, and to the secretary of defense.
