HJR 48, 57th R.S.
Relating to proposing an amendment to the Constitution of Texas authorizing the Legislature to provide for the retirement and retirement compensation of County Judges, Judges of County Courts at Law, Judges of Probate Courts, Judges of County Domestic Relations Courts, Judges of County Criminal Courts, Judges of County Juvenile Courts, and Judges of all Courts of record, not now entitled to retirement, in counties having a population of two hundred and fifty thousand (250,000) or more inhabitants on account of length of service, age or disability and their reassignment to active duty where and when needed; provided, however, that no person shall be appointed or elected as a Judge of any of said enumerated Courts in Counties having a population of two hundred and fifty thousand (250,000) or more inhabitants unless such person shall have been licensed to practice law in the State of Texas for not less than five (5) years prior to such appointment or election.
