Confederate veteran and former Mayor of Dallas and State Representative and Senator; native of Traylorsville, Henry County, Virginia. "As a State legislator, Col. Traylor's service included the authorship of a number of important measures; one reducing passenger fares from 5c to 3c a mile and another repealing the law granting railroads sixteen sections of land for each mile of construction. He was also instrumental in having the State Capitol built of Texas granite."
