Creating a special joint interim committee to study the feasibility of legislative solutions to the medical professional liability problem in this state; providing that the interim study committee be composed of 9 members: three members of the House of Representatives appointed by the Speaker of the House, three senators appointed by the Lieutenant Governor, and three citizens appointed by the Governor; providing that the committee shall have power to issue process to witnesses at any place in the state and to compel their attendence and production of all books, records, and instruments; to issue attachments where necessary to obtain compliance with subpoenas or other process, which may be addressed to and served by any peace officer of this state; providing that from the contingent expense fund of the House and the contingent expense fund of the Senate equally, the members of the committee shall be reimbursed for their actual expenses incurred in carrying out the purposes of this resolution, and other necessary expenses of operation shall be paid from the contingent expense fund of the house and the contingent expense fund of the Senate, equally; authorizing the committee to employ staff for the conduct of the study; providing that the committee shall make its complete report, including findings and recommendations and drafts of any legislation deemed necessary, to the 65th Legislature when it convenes in January, 1977.
