  • United States Army, Major, World War I; Texas National Guard, Lieutenant Colonel; United States Army, Colonel, World War II. "Whereas, He entered military service in 1917 as a lieutenant, served 18 months in France, and was discharged as a major in 1919, becoming a lieutenant colonel and division signal officer in the Texas National Guard in 1923; and Whereas, Again in 1942, he returned to active military duty when he was commissioned a colonel and sent to the South Pacific, where he organized and administered a U.S. Joint Purchasing Board; he was transferred to Brazil to organize an Armed Forces Purchasing Board; after that tour he returned to Washington to become executive secretary of the Army Service Forces Committee on Materiel Demobilization; and on March 1, 1944, he was detailed as a special consultant on organization to the Director of Distribution, War Food Administration, following which he was assigned to the General Staff Corps as special assistant to the director of the special planning division; he was released from active duty on June 30, 1945." 59th Legislature, R.S., HSR 21.
