  • I.M. Payne grew up near Pickton, Hopkins County, and was a farmer "before entering the newspaper field." Payne edited newspapers in Campbell, Como, then Commerce. "I.M. Payne of Commerce" purchased the Collinsville Times in April 1915, moved his household to Collinsville, Grayson County on 6/4/1915, and "moved out of the county" by 12/17/1915. "Tom L. Ridgwell of Rockwall" [sic: Thomas B. Ridgell] became a candidate for flotorial representative to serve out Payne's term.
