Wm. Tate mentioned in obituary of Mrs. Mary Kroeschel, The Hallettsville New Era, 9/17/1912, p. 1, crediting Friench Simpson Memorial Library. "Deceased had been a resident of this city for many years. She came here with her first husband, Wm. Tate, a lawyer, to whom she had been shorty before married at Fort Smith, Arkansas. Wm. Tate died here shortly after the war and about three years later she married Wm. Kroeschel, then a business man of this city, who died in 1890."
