Charges
• A study of the siting, construction and operation of nuclear waste storage facilities in the State of Texas.
• A study of the costs and methods of utilization of energy which is used for agricultural irrigation in the High Plains area.
• A study of the construction, siting, financing, licensing, regulation and operation of deepwater port facilities for off-loading imported petroleum off the Texas coast.
• The compilation of a catalog of research, development and demonstration projects currently being conducted in the State of Texas on the utilization of solar and geothermal energy resources.
• Oversight responsibility of agency expenditures and related transactions. This function shall encompass a review and monitoring of all appropriations-related actions of those agencies assigned to this committee for appropriative purposes during the 65th Regular Session of the Legislature, to wit:
Railroad Commission (partial)
Governor's Energy Advisory Council
Southern Interstate Nuclear Board
• A study of the legislation necessary to protect the financial and energy stability of the state should the federal government enact energy measures particularly punitive to Texas and the southwest.
• A study of the ramifications and effects of municipal power pools on local communities. This study should include recommendations as to the possible need for legislation to offset the loss of revenue to local governments because of power pool acreage location.
