• To study the state's policies and procedures on vehicle replacement.
• To study the computer capabilities and automation needs of the judiciary and the potential impact for reducing backlog and increasing efficiency in terms of overall caseload flow and disposition.
• To study and evaluate the role of revenue enhancement programs in institutions of higher education including public/private partnerships, nationwide business activities and privatization of services typically managed by the State.
• To study the conditions of higher education facilities and the extent of the deferred maintenance problem.
• To study whether the present structure and variety of state-funded student financial aid programs for higher education is adequate and efficient.
• To study procurement guidelines regarding high technology equipment purchases by medical schools and research centers.
• To study the extent and status of state and local indebtedness.
• To study state prison industries functions at the Texas Department of Corrections.
• To study the impact of AIDS on public health care cost and hospital costs in Texas (joint study with Public Health).
• To study trends in the infection levels and population of AIDS and HIV infected individuals and to study the effect of AIDS-related legislation enacted by the 71st Legislature (joint study with Public Health).
• To study compliance accomplishments by the Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation relative to the lawsuit settlement agreements.
• To study the state's employee classification system and salary schedule, including the issue of comparable worth, in conjunction with the State Classification Officer of the State Auditor's Office.
• To study the potential impact of recent letter rulings from the US Department of Labor regarding the Fair Labor Standards Act on overtime pay provisions of various classes of state employees.
• To study the feasibility of Medicaid expansion in the areas of developmental disabilities, early childhood intervention, case management and rehabilitation with special emphasis on federal match potential.
