"As a member of the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, Mr. Ligarde attained the rank of captain while participating in 50 combat missions in North Africa and Italy; he won commendation for his meritorious military service and was awarded the Air Medal with nine oak leaf clusters and the Presidential Unit Citation." 69th Legislature, 3rd C.S., HCR 7.
